The 11' long cockpit and moderate height boom in the J/70 allow easy crew movement across the cockpit while tacking and jibing. For sitting and hiking comfort, mid-height padded backrests/lifelines run cockpit length, large cockpit floor mounted toe-rails for secure foot bracing and comfortable seat height and ergonomics makes J/70 one of the most comfortable small keelboats to helm.  No need for hiking straps to keep you in the boat. Plus there are strict class limits on how to hike to make the boat less physical to sail.

With standard  jib/spin sheet winches, a feather light responsive helm and confidence building stability, you can enjoy sailing with friends and family more often. Juniors and seniors alike feel as comfortable and in control steering or trimming. Whether daysailing or joining in for some sunset racing, the J/70 is both exciting and forgiving. The J/70 Class Association is a dynamic owner-based organization with professional management that oversees an active regional, continental and world sailing calendar. Recognized by World Sailing as an international class, the J/70 Class holds annual European, North American, South American and World Championship events with special recognition of its Open, Corinthian, Women and Youth champions.


The J/70 one-design class rules require a 2.5 hp outboard engine (gas or electric), plus anchor and additional safety gear. This means one can be self sufficient on the water without worrying about paddling home. Race Committees can start races on time and finish them later in the day without having to tow boats.

The J/70 Speedster (22.75 feet) is J/Boats' first ramp-launchable, keelboat - designed to fulfill the need for an easy-to-own, high performance one-design that's exciting to sail, stable enough for the entire family, AND easy to tow, rig, launch and sail. For larger power and sail vessels, we work with one of the premier yacht brokerages in the country, Swiftsure Yachts of Seattle, WA.  

For local and regional listings, we maintain a network of relationships and contacts of interested buyers. Our minimum fee to list a boat is $1,500 or 10%, whichever is greater.  

As a buyer's broker we work hard to locate the ideal boat for a customer's needs. We have assisted clients in purchasing yachts from all corners of the continent, including Puerto Vallarta, Vancouver, Ft. Lauderdale, Newport, RI, Annapolis, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and many points in between. We have the experience to negotiate a fair deal, and to arrange for survey, delivery and commissioning. A buyer should seriously consider having an expert on their side of the deal.  As in real estate, the seller pays the commission. 


We offer a complete line of custom racing and cruising sails from Ballard Sails, including custom carbon membrane sails for Grand Prix programs.    We will measure your boat and offer suggestions to provide the most value for your sail investment.
